(욥 39:13-18) 힘세고 넓은 날개로 높이 날며 당당하게 높이 솟아오르는 황새와는 크게 대조적으로, 타조는 날지 못하는 새이다. 타조의 날개로는 이 새의 체중을 감당할 수 없으며, 그 넓적한 가슴뼈에는 하늘을 나는 새가 비행할 때 사용하는 근육을 지지해 주는 “용골 돌기”가 없다.
